Inter Milan
On Sunday evening, we watched a soccer match between Inter Milan and Palermo. You can just barely make out some smoke over the upper tier seats on the left side of the photo, where the super fans were gathered. They chanted, sang, and waved enormous flags during the entire match. The smoke in this instance was in celebration of Inter Milan's first goal of the game by Giampaolo Pazzini.

Tour de Romandie
We took a break from watching the royal wedding yesterday to see the cyclists from the Tour de Romandie
racing through town. At this point in the race, the peloton was between three to five minutes behind the small
lead pack. Romandie is the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

Tokyo kendo and karate tournament
While walking around the grounds near the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Shuku and I came across a kendo and
karate tournament taking place in the Nippon Bodukan, a large martial arts hall. I was amazed by the numbers of
kids participating in these sports.

Kite surfers
We had beautiful weather for our Sunday bike ride to Boudry. There were several kite surfers on the lake.
This guy was a good jumper.

Trails
These little yellow signs that mark hiking trails are everywhere. The Mittelland Skate Trail #3 is one of three
national skating trails. It is almost 250 miles long, and connects Lake Constance (called the Bodensee in
German and on Google maps) on the northeast border of Switzerland with our part of Switzerland, called
the Three Lakes Country. www.schweizmobil.ch
