Colmar Christmas

We stayed in Colmar only long enough to visit the tourist office and pick up our rental car. Most of the buildings in the old town were already decorated for Christmas like this: with large dioramas attached to the facade.

The hills behind our house are currently very colorful.

Honeylocust

Remember the honeylocust from two weeks ago? It got trimmed in that special, European way.

Autumn

The days are getting shorter, temperatures are dropping, and the trees around town are changing color.

Biking in Ferrara

Our hotel in Ferrara had bikes to loan to guests, and we took them out one morning before it got too hot. We rode northwest out of the city to the town of Francolino, west along the Po River, and then south back into Ferrara.

Model

The first full day we spent entirely in Reggio. In the morning, we ambled around a city park with grand, old trees 

and encountered this photographer and model.

Chestnuts in blossom

 

The horse chestnut trees (Aesculus hippocastanum) are in blossom with long conical stalks of flowers.

Sycamores

Sycamore trees line many of the boulevards in town. This one had particularly beautiful bark.

Monkey puzzle trees

To date, we've found six monkey puzzle trees in town!
